Gandhiji stayed in a small house in Podanur during his visit to Coimbatore in 1934 as a part of the Harijan tour. It had survived the test of time, and when the owners of the property identified the significance of the house, it was decided to set up The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial.
The collective vision was to create a space that invites visitors to pause, read, meditate and reflect.
The idea was to not only inspire visitors but also to be a space that actively spreads awareness about Gandhian principles and its relevance to the 21st century. The memorial hosts lectures, workshops and events throughout the year.
