The Experimenta Science Centre is an interactive science museum located in the GD Museums. The interiors were designed to evoke a sense of playfulness and serve as setting for children to experience science.
The process began by defining zones within the space to position the 100+ exhibits based on a theme. The broad themes were Illusion, Optics, Math, Sound, Nature and Energy. The central main hall was divided into 4 zones using partitions that allowed the spaces to remain connected visually but organised movement from one space to the next.
The colours were chosen taking cues from the colour scheme of the exhibits. To move away from cartoon-like sketches, we began developing custom artwork that was inspired by the concepts explored in each zone.
The art on the wall was an extension of the concepts covered in the exhibits in every space.
SPATIAL GRAPHICS
A custom designed space themed wallpaper was developed to serve as a backdrop for the Gravitram.
Graphics developed for STEM shop (above) to represent STEM learning and vinyl + acrylic work (below) for the ticketing counter to represent the wide spectrum of topics covered in the GD museums
